The project was first announced in 2024 as being in the works at Sony Pictures with the title Beneath the Storm before the name shifted a year later to Shiver. Earlier this year, news broke that Netflix would now release the film, which was then untitled after Sony produced the movie but removed it from the studio’s release calendar.
