🎀 Pink October: The Story Behind the Ribbon Before it became a global symbol of hope, the pink ribbon began as a simple act of resistance. In 1985, Breast Cancer Awareness Month was launched to promote early detection. Years later, activist Charlotte Haley created the first ribbon — peach in color — to demand more research and funding.
